Fundraiser for the animal shelter NGO “Mylyi Dim Chapa” (Mykolaiv, Ukraine)

The shelter currently cares for 170 animals — 120 dogs and 50 cats. Most of them are elderly, sick, or living with disabilities. Many are spinal patients, some suffer from epilepsy, and others have heart conditions that require lifelong medication. All of them were rescued and brought here from different regions of Ukraine.

When young animals arrive at the shelter, they receive treatment and volunteers try to find them loving homes as quickly as possible. But many animals remain — those who have nowhere else to go. They are elderly, injured, traumatized, or seriously ill. These animals need the most care and support. Providing care for them requires significant resources. Medications are expensive, food is needed every day, and caring for elderly and disabled animals is constant work. Some animals require special daily care and assistance.

The shelter “Mylyi Dim Chapa” in Mykolaiv provides a safe place for animals that people are rarely ready to adopt — animals without limbs or eyes, elderly pets, and those with chronic illnesses. For many of them, the shelter becomes a place where they can live the rest of their lives in safety, with proper care and dignity.​ Despite the difficult circumstances, shelter workers continue to do everything they can to give these animals a second chance at life. They need treatment, food, parasite prevention, and everyday care.

We are also looking for larger organizations or foundations that could support this shelter on a long-term basis. Any recommendations or connections that could help support these animals would be deeply appreciated.
